Greetings to all visitors to our website. My name is Alan Harrison. I am the Interim Executive Director here at Appomattox River Water Authority (ARWA). I will be working to update the information on this site soon. In the meantime, I have an important announcement to share.
The Appomattox River Water Authority is working on the last portion of the IFIM Study as part of our permit application. Conducting this study requires staggered releases from the dam for a two day period. This test is currently scheduled for January 19th and 20th. The required releases are very low and water flowing over the dam would compromise the test. As a result, starting today, January 11th, we must lower the lake level to approximately 24 in. below the top of the dam in order have enough capacity for the lake to be able to absorb the incoming flow from upstream while the test is being conducted. The lake should refill fairly quickly after the test is complete. Depending on incoming flows, I would anticipate the lake being full again about a week after the test completion. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me at (804) 861-0111 x202 or by e-mail at aharrison@scwwa.org.
